Hydraulics on the farm? Of course! Hydraulics and pneumatics play an important role in agricultural efficiency, from tractors and skid steers to the milking parlor. Smaller fluid power units, like large industrial machines, must be checked and maintained to ensure maximum dependability.

FSC is located in the heart of the dairy state, so we understand the importance of keeping our farms operational. So when a local dairy farm contacted us for advice on a milking carousel issue, we were eager to take on the challenge! This unit was originally built and installed by FSC, in 1999. The customer explained that they had fallen days behind schedule due to a speed issue with the carousel.

With supply chain issues looming, our service department was forced to think outside the box, which is a specialty of Fluid System Components! With such a short turnaround, our technicians knew that ordering the original size pump would be impossible. Instead, they discovered a slightly larger gear pump with a matching coupling that would fit the unit and, in turn, increase productivity. After the installation, our customer was back up and running with increased unit speeds. The larger pump configuration allowed them to reduce pump speed from 6.5 seconds per stall to 4.5 seconds. This increase allowed them to catch up and get back on track in 24 hours.

 

Maintained Machines are Efficient Machines

We want to be ready to assist our customers when they need it the most! We have since collaborated with the dairy farm to develop a list of components to have on hand in the event of an emergency. This will speed up our response time during future service visits.

Our service department can also design a maintenance plan that includes regular maintenance as well as hydraulic fluid and filter checks. A regular maintenance schedule reduces downtime and keeps your machines running at peak performance!

Maintenance is essential! Keeping the oil cool and clean is the best thing you can do for your hydraulic systems. 75% of all hydraulic failures are caused by poor oil conditions. Regular oil sampling and filter changes can help prevent damage and keep units running longer with less downtime.
